Matt Curtin Discusses Life Online With Students
Participating in a reading program at
The Wellington
School, students there read Jeffery Deaver's
The Blue Nowhere.
In the novel, hacker Wyatt Gillette is enlisted to
help the Computer Crimes Unit of the California
State Police nail a cracker called Phate, who lures
victims to their deaths by infiltrating their
computers.
On September 6, 2002, Interhack founder Matt Curtin
will visit The Wellington School and discuss the
reality and fiction of life in cyberspace, "the blue
nowhere," as it's called in the novel.
A computer security author, researcher, lecturer,
and practitioner, Matt is intimately familiar with
the potential of cyberspace. He provides technical
leadership and direction at Interhack, a firm often
enlisted to keep crackers at bay. Some highlights
of his work include the book
Developing Trust: Online
Privacy and Security, design and
implementation of numerous secure Internet sites,
and the defeat of the U.S. Government's
then-standard for data encryption, DES.
