The Role of Security in Clinical Informatics
Interhack founder Matt Curtin will present at the
annual conference of the Central and Southern Ohio
Chapter of HIMSS with a discussion of the role of
information security in clinical informatics.
Abstract
When thinking of security, many people think
immediately of technologies like firewalls and
cryptography. In fact, security is a property
ascribed to information when it is well-managed. We
will discuss the fundamental principles of information
security and show how these support the objectives of
clinical informatics. Going a step further, we will
demonstrate how the goals of clinical informatics
cannot be met without security.
